Alabama menâs basketball to play Ohio State in Destin this November
Alabama men’s basketball will face Ohio State on Nov. 24 at Northwest Florida State College as part of the Emerald Coast Classic tournament.
The regular-season game will tip off at 6 p.m. CT in Raider Arena. Both Alabama and Ohio State will play a second game Nov. 25 against either Oregon or Santa Clara, based on the results of Friday’s games.
The eight-team tournament was announced last month but the specific match-ups were announced Tuesday.
Alabama will also host Mercer in Coleman Coliseum as part of the tournament before leaving for Florida.
Ohio State finished 5-15 in the Big Ten last season and 16-19 overall. The Tide and Buckeyes have met six times previously but not since November 2002.
Alabama, which lost in the Sweet 16 last season as the NCAA tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, currently has only two confirmed returning scholarship players after center Charles Bediako reportedly decided this week to remain in next month’s NBA draft. Guards Mark Sears and Jahvon Quinerly have until May 31 to remain in the draft or return to school.
Alabama’s non-conference schedule also includes a trip to Toronto to play Purdue, a road game at Creighton and a neutral-site game against Arizona in Phoenix.
